Future Now - Preview

Merseyside has been at the forefront of the UK’s return to live music. Sefton Park saw five thousand music fans take part in the country’s first live music trial event, whilst local promoters Club Evol hosted a number of all day festivals that showcased some of the region’s best musical talent and finest live venues, including the bright pink new cultural spark of Future Yard.

The venue, run by some of the best local creative minds is providing a space for upcoming artists to blossom, becoming The Wirral’s go-to music hub. They will be playing host to some of the best local musicians once again as they put on their own two day festival, ‘Future Now’, this bank holiday weekend.

Starting on Friday 27th at 4pm, the festival features a mix of emerging artists from The Wirral and Liverpool as well as some of Future Yard’s favourite bands from across the country. Special guest Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals is taking the headline slot on Friday, playing tracks from his brand new solo album ‘Seeking New Gods’ whilst local melodic Grunge duo Stores (check out our review of their debut single) and dreamy bedroom soloist Lazygirl are among those lighting things up earlier in the day. Saturday sees the scouse Jazz of Brad Stank, the witty Post Punk of Yard Act and the genre bending synth sounds of PVA, amongst many others, all grace the stage with proceedings kicking off at 12pm.

With the weather brightening up for the long weekend, the vibrant outside space at Future Yard is the perfect place to mingle with like minded music lovers before heading into their noisy inside gig space. The fantastic selection of food and drinks combined with the buzzing ambiance of the venue is worth the trip any day of the week, the incredible selection of live music is purely a bonus! Following the success of their debut Future Yard Festival in 2019 that took place across different venues in Birkenhead, it is one again their turn to prove that The Future Is Now… The Future Is Birkenhead.
