Our favourite Funkanistas Youth Sector are finally gearing up for their debut album which is set for release on September 19th. The Brighton quintet have been serving up danceworthy grooves for a good few years now, combining the slick soaring melodies of Indie Pop with the rhythmic jive of Funk and the two singles that have have released to tease the new album do that to great effect.

‘God’s Work’ has a dramatic grandeur, leading with the bold lead vocals and whirring synths to immediately grab your attention and bring a chorus that just begs to be sang back by a sell-out crowd. It has their trademark groove-laiden, synth-driven energy with a Freddie Mercury esc theatrical flair that has crept into the Indie scene recently.

‘Buy For Less’ is a little more down to earth and stanky, leading with some wonderful interplay between the bass and guitars that create an intricate earworm. This track also showcases Youth Sector’s ansgtier side as it builds towards an eruption in the final moments. Sharp guitars cut left and right as the drums lift the intensity and the vocals begin to shout with a visceral passion before sliding back into one final singalong chorus.

From the taste of these two singles we’re hungry for more and can’t wait for the album this September!
