Psychedelic Punk collective Maz & The Phantasms’ punchy new single ‘FACTORY HELL’ is a bolshy, no nonsense attack of a Punk song, smashing up the room and encapsulating the best of the genre’s elements.

Opening with a head banging guitar riff, this song is straight to the point, combining strong lyrics with Buzzcocks-esque lead guitar riffs. The Punk/Post Punk influences don’t stop there either, with lyrics ‘Day In, Day Out’ serving as an obvious yet tasteful nod to Joy Division’s 1978 track ‘Digital’.

But enough about the past, ‘FACTORY HELL’ is a song made for the here and now. The highlight occurs during a breakdown where the pulsating beat of the high hat guides the listener through a kaleidoscopic corridor of guitar sounds which explode into a final rendition of the gigantic guitar riff that opens the song. While Maz & The Phantasms’ new single leans into the past, it stands on its own two feet, poised and ready to charge into battle. ‘FACTORY HELL’ is confident, unrelenting and unapologetic!
