Danny’s Always Late had the whole scene of Artefact bouncing and anticipating their every note. The four piece drags you into a sphere of Shoegaze, Indie and a fresh new take on Punk, curating a vibrant and luscious new sound. The quartet has such unwavering energy and immersive music that you feel a part of the musical experience they take you for.

They begin their set with ‘Drunk Kisses’, their skilled techniques and textured sound comes across to the crowd right away. Leo Dunn’s acoustic guitar adds another element to the tunes, which are quite Grungy but beautifully soft and rhythmic at times. Paired with Leo’s vocalisation, there is endless range in his pitch. A voice not only charming to listen to but completely magnetic. They enter their next few songs, Danny Woodhouse’s bass continues to storm the song forward with Toby Rees anchoring on drums, the pair grip you with a rhythm that have your head nodding each second. ‘Silver Spurs’ was another favourite, driven by Jude Bennett’s expressive guitar — a blend of Country-cowboy charm with an Indie edge to it.

The audience was completely enamoured by the band; they made the gig interactive and exciting. They had intense audience involvement to get everyone grooving, clapping their hands and even singing some lines in ‘Game Over.’ They warmed up the whole crowd; they took control and showed us how impassioned they are. Their last two ‘Trying Times’ and ‘Growing Noises’ were particularly absorbing, with Danny leading on bass at times, crafting a Punkier sound, much like Elvis Costello or Talking Heads. The crowd excitably moved to these last two, catchy and direct. We can’t wait to see what Danny’s Always Late has to offer us next, they have a bright and long future ahead of them and we will follow them dancing the whole way!
