On the weekend that self-titled international Popstar CMAT entered her 'EURO-COUNTRY' era, she arrived in Liverpool for two back-to-back shows on a warm Sunday evening.

As is often the case with these Jacaranda In-Store shows, the highlight of the evening was how much audience interaction the intimate surroundings allowed for. Anyone that had caught CMAT's vibrant, theatrical performance at Glastonbury earlier in the Summer will have had a completely different experience as paused between every track to chat casually with the crowd. From tales of touring to an inquest into the Wirral/Liverpool divide, she laughed and joked along with the crowd often talking one on one with audience members to hear their stories of previous CMAT shows and what the songs mean to them. It was a unique and beautiful experience to hear a global artist talking so candidly with fans.

Musically the night was just as magical. Although she only played a mere 6 songs which may have left some fans feeling sort changed, she poured everything she had into each track performance. She played through a few from the new album from the swooping ballad of 'When A Good Man Cries' to the powerful singalong of 'Take A Sexy Picture Of Me'.

The intimate setting also allowed CMAT to take requests. After a barrage of suggestions hit the stage, she went with 'Communion' which was met by a huge cheer. As the crowd sang along to every word she commented on her surprise of how much Liverpool liked that song. This felt like a lovely personal touch to the evening as she stated that she'd only played that song a couple of times since its release.

The evening then ended with a mesmerising performance of 'Stay for Something' and closed a wonderful evening that made us desperate to see CMAT again!
