An upbeat instrumental start that soon gives way to the soft intimate vocals, the ‘Better On Screen’ feels like we are stepping into, one of many, diary entries as she asks herself “what if I’m done?”- a deeply personal and instantly relatable question that probes many of us. This new single from Brighton's Larlin opens us to those private, unspoken moments we stash away in our own journals, led by the incredible vocals of Maryann Hoar.

Ethereal and mellow in tone, the verses are contrasted with a powerful, building chorus where a rocking heaviness is brought to her poetic reflections – asking “what does it all mean?” and “why would they make the curtains blue?”. By blending such introspective lyrics with soaring instrumentals, Larlin remind us that while the questions may be heavy there’s power in asking them together.

While Larlin has questioned herself in this latest release, a glimmer of resilience peeks through, halfway in the track as she states, “I know the only way is through”. Larlin shows the possibility of balancing our candid self-doubt with hope, allowing us to know the power in sharing both vulnerability and strength in equal measure.
