Creepy Crawly, the project of songwriter Rachel Cawley, brings a sound reminiscent of early 2000s Indie with the newest single ‘Buttercup’. The sweet and subtle intro consisting of beautiful acoustic chords accompanied by light drumming of quaint cymbals is perfect for the current changing of seasons from winter into spring.

The instrumental exudes life faintly hinting at the hope for better days ahead, the guitar itself almost fruiting throughout the song like a flower with its delicate chords being the stem of the track. The lyrics bring home that feeling of spring romance and the air of joy with lines like “run to the meadows your hand held in mine, people keep staring at our iridescent shine”. Words like this sung by the sugary vocals of Rachel make this even more addictive and thoughtful.

The title 'Buttercup' can insinuate many different interpretations but this track particularly encapsulates the symbolism of the bright, yellow flower it is associated with as it oozes cheerfulness and life with hints of flirtation.
