With the slack-jawed, moody vocal delivery of King Krule and the funk-laced bedroom beats of Jamie T, London newcomer Cass Why embodies the street-beat Indie legends that have come before him.

The beat is infectious, filled with a joyful energy while the guitars are much more casual, offering a hazy, stoner soundscape into the mix. This blend means that you want to dance but are simultaneously filled with a laid back swagger making you want to kick back and smoke. It’s the epitome of early 20s London living.

Although the vocal approach is loose and laid back, the flow has a real melodic structure to it that sticks with you and the chorus is quietly catchy. It feels understated at first but the more you hear it the more it gets stuck in your head! A really enjoyable debut that radiates with an irresistible slacker energy.
