‘Play Nice’, the new single from Newcastle’s Dog Years is a wonderfully crafted single that lures you in with an eery suspense before really letting its true colours show.

The first couple of minutes are filled with a delicate, winding guitar line and very natural vocal blends. It builds a slightly dreamy, contemplative atmosphere with subtle Melodies.

However, the song then bursts into a much heavier, gritty Rock outburst. The guitar tones become scratchy and dense, chugging along with a raw power. The vocals join up to deliver melancholic lines that ring of Radiohead.

The finale is then filled with big drum stubs and chaotic vocals, closing the song with a flurry of angst. It’s a beautifully dynamic track that grows and grows up to a climatic ending!
