Enter Shikari are back with a surprise release album, ‘Lose Your Self’, announced to be dropping at midnight at their intimate gig at Satan’s Hollow in Manchester. The four-piece have been looking back on where they first started, discussing their first ever Manchester show as “the first sense we got that something was happening”. We see through the album they haven’t forgotten their Electronicore roots, using it to push their frustration over the lack of connection growing ever- present in our lives.

The opening title track immediately sets the tone of the new era, with piercing riffs that build into a catchy chorus with Dance Rock elements, reminding us of the band's unique sound. We are immediately hit with poignant lyrics, “You say “we’re a disease” / But you’re confusing the afflicted with the affliction itself” reminding us to educate ourselves, instead of picking someone to blame.

Another huge track ‘Find Out The Hard Way…’ drives home the warning Enter Shikari wants us all to take seriously, the dangers of living out our lives through online spaces. Combative lyrics blend with the intense drumming to create a classic Shikari sound that doesn’t shy away from the numbing effects of the digital world.

The three-part closing tracks entitled ‘Spaceship Earth I, II and III’ takes us away from the anxieties faced in our world and into an outside perspective of our thoughtless decisions. ‘Spaceship Earth III’ does offer some clarity and inspiration for how we can move forward, with almost cinematic instrumentation reminding us to keep a hold of our hope during these darker times.

The energy on the album, and in their recent intimate gigs across the country shows their worldwide arena tour is not to be missed, with a stop at the Co-op Live in Manchester on the 19th November.
