The eclectic sounds of Japanese Indie Pop project CHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE bring us an instant joy. Their new album ‘Whoop It Up’ is bursting with life, combining vibrant production and playful vocals to create a wide range of sonic styles, offering just about every sound motion under the sun throughout.

Opening song ‘So-so Life’ reminds us off early Rizzle Kicks with its built up, flavourful sound led by a brass hook. It’s a sunshine groove perfect for dancing in the summer sun. Standout song ‘Secret March’ is a more twisted and insular song with tones of Billie Eilish and Chloe Moriondo with the slightly eery emo undertones the bubbling electro pop soundscape. Their Rony Rex collab 'Cookie Song' continues down this route, offering up a jittery, Hyper-Pop Dance track.

However, our favourite offering in the album has to be ‘Donkey Song’, a super-charged Indie Rock hit with some added whirring video-game esc notes, like if it The Dandy Warhols soundtracked a new Mario kart game. The riff is infectious and hard hitting but the vocals are expressive and playful. This blend between a serious, punchy attitude and more colourful, tongue-in-cheek elements makes for a super exciting ride and we love it!

A kind of crazy album that will keep you entertained whatever your tastes.
