Canadian four-piece Born Ruffians have just released their new single ‘Athena’, which derives from upcoming ninth album ‘Beauty’s Pride’. Known for their vibrant Indie Pop sound, their sound carries hints of fellow Canadian Indie outfits Peach Pit, Wallows and Alvvays with an added artistic flair comparable to Youth Sector.

Athena’ shows the band in their full Indie Pop glory. With synth effects and vocal quirks reminiscent of David Byrne of Talking Heads combining an experimental approach to their tried and tested formula. The drums are a commanding force throughout making sure they don’t run away with themselves whilst the bass brings the Funk. The vocal melody begs to be sung back and the guitar work is simple yet effective.

Despite being round since the early 00s, Born Ruffians show they’ve still got a fresh flair to offer!
