With their new single ‘It’s been great’ French Post-Punk band Lanes serve up a track that combines New Wave inspired influences with strong melodic sensibilities. The single’s high energy and 80s-esque sound provide the undertone for a bittersweet and, at times, melancholic narrative described through reflective lyricism.

This track is the lead single for the band’s debut EP ‘Puppets to love’ which provides more of the same moody meets dreamy, guitar-driven heaven. Opening with an ascending set of chords which catapult you into a guitar riff and drum combination reminiscent of Shoegaze band Bdrmm’s debut album ‘Bedroom’, an unrelenting sense of escape is captured.
The chorus is big, bold and while not a typical descriptor assigned to songs of this genre, catchy. This track embodies a clear identity, an unwavering sense of purpose and a gift that gives the listener a bitesize insight into the world of Lanes..
