Daisy Grenade is the embodiment of glitter and lipgloss plastered grunge and their newest release ‘Girls Are So Lucky’ is no exception. Hailing from Brooklyn, the female Alt-Pop duo give us a taste of their upcoming EP ‘So Much To Say’ coming out on 15th May with this lead single and it doesn’t disappoint. ‘Girls Are So Lucky’ acts as a satire of the challenges of tour life and the added pressure of being a ‘girl in a band’ in a male-dominated industry.

Edgy and raw, the song opens with a stripped-back guitar paired with vocals that reveal Dani Nigro and Keaton Whittaker’s musical-theatre background. As the track progresses, fast-paced drums and synth offer a 2012 dubstep breakdown which enhances the single’s nostalgic feel. From the first listen it feels like you have been transported to a 2000s teen-drama film. It's edgy, theatrical and slightly chaotic.

If the music feels like a scene, then the lyrics are the dialogue and they are honest and impossible to ignore. The fast-paced beats mirror the song’s frantic on-the-road reality, but the duo have more to say. As women in the industry Nigro and Whittaker face added pressure, but they keep on proving themselves.
