Pearl Moth is an apt title for the Italian Indie outfit as their music blends a delicate beauty with a darker, haunting undertone. Their new double single ‘Soaked and See-Through’ captures this blend perfectly, showcasing both sides of their wonderfully textured sound.

The first single, ‘Impending Bloom’ even hints at this contrast once again, placing a dark tension and a delicate serenity side by side in the title. Musically, the opening has a reserved, moody groove as a light static percussion and floating electronic synth tones that add a haunting backdrop. The energy slowly builds as the grungy guitars begin to gain power and the smooth yet mysteriously bittersweet vocals glide through the song, creating semantic fields of flora all around as something more intense begins to happen, whether this is romantic, sexual or something more dangerous we’ll leave that up to you. It’s supremely effective at building this eery Indie gothic tension as the line Soaked and See Through repeats.

‘Oh Feel You’ has a more distinctly energetic feel. Lyrically, it ties strongly to the first track, both explicitly mentioning Impending Bloom and Soaked and See Through but also creating these metaphorical connections between danger and the natural world as the opening line speaks “Choked by Ivy”. The drums pack intensity as they offer a frantic rolling rhythm and the guitars have a scratchy indie rock feel energy as the vocals soar for an insanely catchy melody.

The final minute of the track is then filled with a raucous, emotion packed instrumental. The guitars bend and weave with a powerful intensity bringing the track to an anthemic close.
