Nep kicks down the door as she officially enters the music industry with debut album ‘Noelle’, a raw yet optimistic coming of age project that explores the highs and lows of her Daytona upbringing.
Characterised by acoustic guitar and personal songwriting, tracks like ‘I Will always Love You Alright’, draw on bedroom pop influences like Cavetown and mxmtoon. The album’s centrepiece, appropriately titled ‘Daytona’, epitomises the albums Indie-Rock edge, combining raw lyrics with building instrumentals to produce an enveloping sonic experience.

Against plucking bass guitar, the hushed opening lyrics “I wanna be famous, I wanna do something”, take on a resigned yet sincere tone appropriate to the adolescent ache of waiting for life to start. This quickly turns to angst as erupting cymbals background the rising, gritty vocals “Didn’t you notice/ that I’m not home?”. What follows is an explosive oscillation between nihilism and hope that cements Nep as a multifaceted artist with a skill for cathartic sounds.
The track's final self-assured statement “People will know me, and I’ll be home” creates the satisfying sense of more to come. We wholeheartedly agree, everyone should know Nep!
